Settling In

Settling in procedure

The duration of the "settling in period" will be flexible and will continue until the child feels happy and secure in the nursery. Usually the setting in period is over a 3 to 5 day period. However we will extend if we feel children need any extra time to feel comfortable in the new environment.

Settling in week routine

Day 1: 10:00 – 11:30

Day 2: 10:00 – 12:30

Day 3 10:00 – 2:30

The settling in period varies because the time taken to feel comfortable in the environment differs from child to child, therefor an assessment is made to see if the child requires 3 or 5 five days settling in

We also offer children play days as part of the settling in process. Play days are optional, parent/Carers can come to the nursery and stay with their child for an hour. Play days are offered 3 weeks before their child is due to start nursery This enables children and their parents/carer feel more at ease when the settling in week starts, this also gives Parents/Carers and children an opportunity to meet staff and become familiar with the nursery routine.
